TEACHING ASSISTANT
September 2017
8:30 – 3:30 Monday to Friday, term time only including inset days (35 weeks).
Churcher’s College Junior School and Nursery is a co-educational day school for about 240 pupils aged 3-11, based in Liphook. The school stands in extensive grounds with specialist teaching rooms for music and science and a fully networked computer suite. The school also has a sports hall and performing arts studio and is surrounded by sports pitches, gardens and three hard netball/tennis courts.
The Junior School is an integral part of Churcher’s College and the pupils enter the senior school, subject to examination at 11+. There are strong links between the schools with some staff members teaching in both.
Reporting to the Class Teacher and the Deputy Head, you will provide support for the teacher to enable pupil progress. The ideal candidate is someone who is enthusiastic, flexible and committed to working with young children. Working within a team is an important aspect of the role as is the willingness to work independently and show initiative.
The Teaching Assistant works under the instruction and guidance of the class teacher and senior staff to undertake support programmes which enable access to learning for pupils and assist the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom. Teaching Assistants also provide playground and lunchtime supervision.
The ideal candidate will have strong literacy and numeracy skills (Maths and English GCSE or equivalent), a good understanding of ICT and be comfortable learning new software packages. 
You will also have previous experience in the school environment or working with young people and an NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant (desirable; however training can be undertaken during employment).

A copy of the school policy on DBS is available on request. Two written references will be required and any gaps in employment records will be investigated. It is also necessary for all staff to notify the Headmaster before the appointment of any convictions or other factors which may be relevant to their employment in a school environment
