The East London Science School is about to enter its fifth year. As our popularity grows, we are keen to recruit exceptional individuals to work with the Principal to develop this unique and exciting school as we look to our first set of GCSE results in 2018.
We are seeking to appoint an English teacher to join our team at the East London Science School in September 2017. Despite this being a science school, English is at the heart of our curriculum and our school day.
Reading and rhetoric form a key part of school life: from the morning whole class reading sessions through to inter-house dramatic reading, poetry by heart and debating competitions.
This is an exciting and unique opportunity for an English teacher to be part of a young vibrant team who believe strongly in the power of literature to change lives and empower the pupils in our care. We teach a literature rich curriculum encompassing Jane Eyre, Julius Caesar, dystopian fiction, the art of rhetoric, the Romantics, and many other rigorous, demanding texts. We encourage pupils to be both critics and creators, using challenging ideas and insightful questioning to inspire a thirst for knowledge.
Our ideal candidate should be an ambitious, confident teacher who is ready to take up the challenge of GCSE teaching and shares our ethos of high expectations for all pupils delivered through an academic education. They should be a literary enthusiast with a drive to instil a love of English in the hearts of all our pupils.
Joining our department means joining a team of passionate subject specialists. You will have the chance not only to contribute to the development of the English curriculum but also to contribute to the building of our school as we continue to grow over the years.
