Due to an increase in workload they are now looking to appoint a District Surveyor to head up the Building Control team on an on-going contractual basis. The job will involve management of internal staff, therefore management experience is essential, in addition to the typical skills required to be Building Control surveyor.

Your new role
To implement and manage the statutory building control functions in compliance with, and enforcement of, the Building Regulations, the Building Act 1984 and the London Building Acts 1930-1982 as required. This includes the responsibility to initiate legal proceedings in cases of non-compliance. Preparation of evidence for and attendance at subsequent court proceedings. You will be required to provide a Dangerous Structures service both during and outside working hours for the purpose of public protection. It is critical that you are responsible for the top level management of the team of engineers, project managing programmes and contacts for the maintenance and development of the highway, structures and other assets.
You will also be solely responsible for the budgetary responsibilities of the team as well as staffing appropriately. This role is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and diligent senior Building Control Surveyor who is looking to enhance his management experience and exposure within a world famous organisation and setting.

What you'll need to succeed
As the successful candidate you will need to have extensive experience of working in a building control regulations, either in the public or private sector. You will need to have experience of dealing with contractors, residents and stakeholders at various levels and fell comfortable offering advice to seniors as well as subordinates. Demonstrating a thorough understanding of current Building Regulations is essential for this job, as well as a proven track record of managing a small team and driving through improvements of practices.
