A Development Engineer with knowledge of orthopaedic medical devices is required to lead the design process for Hips and have an understanding of infections and bacteria related to this medical product. Working within R&D you will lead the detailed design and development of implant and instrument systems for the product portfolio. With the ability to design using 3D & 2D CAD, with the ability to assess designs via CAD and CAE verification and tolerance stack analysis.

As the successful Development Engineer you with be responsible for and have experience of:

* Generating full design package to facilitate transfer to Production, liaising with Production to ensure effective introduction of new devices.
* Ensure correct management of design control and risk management through the use of the quality system.
* Arrange for the production of prototype or rapid prototypes of implants and instrumentation.
* Present as technical authority of the hip/knee portfolio both internally and externally.
* Ability to identify and analyse problems and generate design solutions in compliance with design specifications.
* An understanding of the orthopaedics or medical devices sector is advantageous, as is an understanding of working in a regulated environment, particularly surrounding infections and bacteria issues for these products.
* Aptitude for design and development, strength in both concept design and detail drafting.
* Ability to act as a technical leader of internal multidisciplinary teams.
* BEng or BSc in a relevant subject such as Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or Industrial/Product Design or demonstrate a similar level of experience.

The role of Development Engineer requires previous experience in a Product Development role with a demonstrable track record of new product introduction. Who can drive the creation of design solutions and concepts.
