Reporting To: Business Development Manager, with secondary report to the UK Technical Manager.

Purpose: As part of our clients on-going investment in an increasingly UK-based resource pool, we are seeking an individual to assist with their business development, technical and project delivery activities. The successful candidate will provide expertise, practical assistance and a local presence in the South of England to enhance their client-facing services and to support the on-going development of their market offering.

Suitability: The role would suit a flexible and enthusiastic individual with an inquisitive mind and a water industry background. They will need to be self-motivated, a good communicator and willing to work in a small business environment.

Location: Based at our clients office in Hampshire but with local and some nationwide travel and occasional visits to our Group headquarters in Ireland. Some limited remote working may be possible by agreement.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Technical Applications: o Supporting the Technical Manager in the development of new solutions and technologies. o Assessment of third party technologies. o Developing the technical offering for certain new market initiatives. o Technical report writing.

Project Delivery Support: o Providing local/regional assistance to project teams for site visits, meetings, etc. mostly in the Thames, Southern and Wessex areas. o Be willing to manage or co-manage certain low-value or local projects. o Producing case studies of some completed projects.

Business Development Support: o Visiting client sites as part of the information gathering process. o Drafting of proposal documents using specifications and pricing provided by others. o Reviewing proposals drafted by others and editing/formatting prior to submission. o Attending (or arranging for others to attend) Client meetings during the bidding process. o Assisting with project handovers between the Business Development and Contracts teams. o Assisting the Business Development Manager in preparing regional export strategies. o Researching and presenting market intelligence for existing and potential target export markets.

Other Duties: o Attend Contracts Team and Business Development Team meetings, in person or remotely. o Attendance at certain meetings or industry events on behalf of the Business Development Manager and/or Technical Manager. o Mind the Alton office when other workers are away or on leave. o Other duties as may arise from time to time that are consistent with the job-holders knowledge and skills, and are needed to effectively perform the role.

Requirements

Key Skills & Experience:
Engineering or science degree, HND or equivalent
Minimum two years postgraduate experience in a project engineering, technical sales/support or applications/R&D role within the utilities sector and/or M&E engineering environment.
Experience within the UK water industry is a distinct advantage.
Able to demonstrate an ability to work on multiple projects or initiatives simultaneously.
Advanced MS Office skills with the ability to analyse and manipulate data sets.
Report writing skills.
Good communication skills, able to interact effectively with Clients and colleagues.
Strong analytical and interpretive skills, ability to deliver data in a user friendly and relevant manner.
Organisational skills with a commitment to the role and a keen eye for detail.
Willingness to travel nationwide and to the headquarters in Ireland as required.
Full driving licence, any existing endorsements should be declared in the application

Price / Salary: £32000 - £35000/annum
