Quality Engineer (with CMM PC-DMIS experience)

A leading castings manufacturer who supply into a number of key industries including Marine & Transportation are looking to recruit an experienced Quality Engineer (with CMM experience) to join their team.

To be successful you should be prepared to travel at short notice to customer sites (mainly overseas) - however most travel is completed during the working week and rarely exceeds 4 days. Such trips are infrequent.

Purpose of Role:

The Quality Engineer will be responsible for providing shop floor quality & technical support to ensure the smooth running of production & the machining department.

The Successful Candidate:

* Minimum 2 years+ experience as a Quality Engineer in a busy manufacturing / engineering environment
* Casting/Machine shop/Metalwork environment
* Able to operate & program CMM with PC-DMIS
* Manual inspection tools, for example, Verniers, Callipers, Gauges, Micro Meters
* Identification of Non-Conforming parts / Non Conformance management
* Calibration of inspection equipment
* Knowledge of Inspection Standards

* Good understanding of problem solving tools
* Continuous improvement initiatives / including 6 sigma projects
* Hands-on working knowledge of Quality tools including 8D, FMEA, PPAP, SPC, ISIR, Process Capability Studies

* Good understanding of problem solving tools
* Valid Full UK Driving License

Responsibilities Overview:

* Retrieving & setting gauging for shop floor processes in a timely manner.
* Ensuring that gauging is released for external calibration on a regular basis.
* Creating process work instructions for both quality and production requirements.
* Ensuring that shop floor SPC charts & Inspection records are available for production use.
* Providing pre delivery inspection support to ensure parts are passed off in a timely manner for required sales.
* Performing daily process audits to identify non-compliance and communicate remedial action items accordingly.
* Creating & editing CMM programs for production use.
* Using a variety of measurement devices to evaluate in-process machined castings to determine conformance.
* Assisting within 8D processes (Containment, Assist in RC Analysis etc)
* Prepare ISIR to show measurement results of all print characteristics.
* Perform Gauge R&R assessments in line with schedule requirements.
* Perform process capability studies in line with schedule requirements.

* Evaluate process rejects on a daily basis and providing scrap sheets in a timely manner for morning meetings
