We are currently recruiting on behalf of one of London's most prestigious Universities for an experienced Communications Officer.
Job Purpose
You will be joining the University at a time of exciting change as we grow our Communications team and strengthen this important function.
The post sits within the newly formed Marketing, Recruitment and Admissions team and works closely with colleagues from these teams and across the University. By adopting an integrated, holistic approach to our work, we ensure that the University's strategic messages are effectively conveyed to, and understood by, our stakeholders across all communications platforms.
This post provides a great opportunity for a motivated and pro-active Communications Officer to be involved in a broad range of projects and to work closely with both academic and professional services colleagues to deliver high-level communications that positively raise the profile of Regent's nationally and internationally.
You will have great communications skills, a flair for writing, preparing briefs and pitching to journalists. You will be a confident, tenacious self-starter who thrives on building effective relationships, both internally and externally.
Main Responsibilities
1. Working with colleagues, select and utilise appropriate communication channels to make a significant and pro-active contribution to student recruitment, marketing and conversion activities
2. Under the guidance of the Communications and PR Manager, plan and implement targeted communication campaigns and conduct research to underpin campaign activity
3. Write copy for press releases, internal and external news articles, training manuals and other documentation as required, as well as sourcing images for these
4. Create and disseminate weekly e-newsletters for staff and students, and other HTML emails, using our email campaign management tool
5. Update and oversee the University's intranet using SharePoint and train and oversee the network of content editors
6. Monitor both internal and external news and events and work with colleagues to develop responses, potentially liaising with journalists and media to safeguard the
University's reputation
7. Using our CMS, make minor editorial changes and add copy to the website as appropriate
8. Assist in proofing and editing collateral
9. Work with colleagues to gather intelligence on the University's programmes and events and ensure that good news stories are disseminated and promoted appropriately
10. Be prepared to work flexibly in support of our Crisis Communications Strategy and PR Strategy as necessary

Person Specification
QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Educated to degree level or equivalent
Hold a professional qualification(preferably CIPR or CIM)
EXPERIENCE
Experience of working in a similar role within a complex and diverse working environment
Experience of working in higher education
Experience of working autonomously and as part of a multi-skilled team
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Experience of writing, sub-editing and producing copy for both print and digital
Experience of proof reading
Experience of working to tight deadlines
Experience of working in public relations
Experience of events management
Experience using content management systems to upload content and images
Experience using HTML email campaign management tools
Experience in SharePoint for editorial purposes
Understanding of the importance of brand consistency
