SGS is the leading testing and inspections company in the world. Our consumer testing laboratory in Bradford is looking for a Analytical Chemist to assist in our busy and rapidly expanding lab which specialises in the following amongst other analysis:-
Soluble heavy metal determination by ICP-OES and ICP-MS.
Total metal determination by microwave digestion and ICP-OES.
Food contact testing.
Testing using GC-MS and UV-Vis.
RoHS and REACH

We are looking for an experienced chemist to provide analysis using ICP-MS, ICP-OES and UV-Vis. The candidate will be experienced in these applications:-
Experience with method development using the above instruments including validation of these methods.

Analysis also involving:-
Sample preparation.
Daily QA checks on equipment such as balances.
Preparation of chemicals.
Following methods and procedures in the lab.
To help with GC-MS analysis.
Maintenance of the above instruments.
Following our Health and Safety precautions at all times and practicing GLP at all times.

Calibrations and Validations:-

(This involves checking the equipment we use to ensure it is in line with the actual values.)
Any other jobs which assist in the smooth running of the lab or administration associated.

The right candidate must be enthusiastic with a calm and positive attitude. We run a busy lab and it is essential that all colleagues can work under their own initiative, but also know the right time to stop and ask for assistance.

This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to work in a UKAS accredited laboratory and to follow and maintain quality procedures. We pride ourselves in accuracy and precision but the work pace is fast and this must be balanced accordingly, time management skills are essential.
