Manufacturing Futures seek to appoint a Commercial Manager for our client, a West Yorkshire based technology business. The company are well established and provide bespoke equipment and services into the Aerospace / Defence / Electronics industries. As Commercial Manager youll be joining a great company to work to provide strategic commercial, contractual, and legal support to key contracts. Commercial Manager Role and Responsibilities Sales Manager / Commercial Director / Sales Director / Aerospace / Defence / Electronics
* Assist the Sales Department in the assessment of proposed terms and conditions, contract setup, tender compliance, and contract negotiation
* Provide legal, contractual, and commercial advice to all departments
* Identify and control all commercial activities of assigned projects. Work alongside Project Managers to develop and maintain an overall view of all projects
* Provide strategic reporting of project status and risk on a monthly basis. Identify commercial risk, and implement strategy to mitigate such risk on assigned projects
* Prioritise strategic deliverables with regard to customer/contractual/sales demands, and allocate resources to achieve them
* Assess, develop, and implement the design review process
* Integrate technical activities in conjunction with Project Managers
* Ensure that all project commercial/contractual requirements are understood and satisfied at the outset of a new project. Price up variations and tenders as and when required
* Issue commercial/contractual letters including early warning notices, compensation event notifications etc.
* Optimise revenue and profitability from contracts, including quoting for all extras to original contract where required
* Alongside Project Managers ensure any programme/commercial issues and risks are dealt with effectively, organising resource where needed
* Sign off orders in accordance with the company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance, and reporting issues as they arise
* Report progress to the senior team and Project Managers, and promptly raise any areas of concern where required
* Prepare for, and contribute to, project status reviews
Commercial Manager Skills and Abilities Sales Manager / Commercial Director / Sales Director / Aerospace / Defence / Electronics
* Excellent attention to detail
* Demonstrable ability to develop effective plans and ensure they are achieved in a timely and profitable way
* In depth working knowledge of MOD Contracts / Procurement
* Able to effectively communicate, influence and negotiate with senior managers and external clients/suppliers
* Highly developed problem solving and analytical skills
* Knowledge and experience of quality and design activities
* Previous experience of commercial responsibility for major contracts
* Solid understanding of relevant commercial and contract law
* Experience of working in a senior commercial and/or project management role in a fast moving, multi-project environment
* Experience of managing design / engineering projects and clients / suppliers
* Educated to degree (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline
