SQL DBA

My market leading client is looking to secure the services of a SQL DBA to provide assistance with a critical project.

Rate: £350 - £400 a day
Location: South west
Role: SQL DBA
Duration: 3 months

Required Technical Expertise
* Holds active UK Security Clearance (SC), or has held UK Security Clearance in recent past
* 5 years' experience as a SQL Server DBA, administering version 2008 R2 or higher.
* Experience installing and configuring SQL Server, version 2008 R2 or higher
* Basic understanding of T-SQL and PowerShell
* Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking and firewalls
* Experience in Windows Server environments 2008 and 2012
* Experience with SQL Server replication
* Experience with SQL Server Log Shipping and Mirroring
* Able to demonstrate an analytical and systematic approach to problem solving
* Able to multitask and organize priorities
* Excellent communication and documentation skills with the ability to define and communicate technical solutions clearly both verbally and in writing.
* Collaborative working - work effectively with internal teams, partners and customers to implement policies and improve services
* Willing to provide out of hours cover on a monthly rota basis (typically covering one week every 4 weeks)
Desirable Technical Skills
* Experience with advanced SQL Server HADR technologies (Availability Groups, clustering)
* Experience with other Relational Database Management Systems, particularly Oracle and MySQL
* Experience working with Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure
* Understanding of VMware / virtualization, and a good understanding of the principles of Storage arrays
* MCSA / MCSE certifications
* Linux system administration experience, preferably RHEL/CentOS
