This privately owned national civil engineering contractor have gone from strength to strength over the past 10 years are now known as one of the leading contractors within the UK. Covering all aspects of civil engineering this company multiple divisions in the Highways, Water and Rail sectors, they are now looking for a Managing Quantity Surveyor who is looking for their next step to oversee multiple projects ranging from £1m - £25m+

The role:
Reporting to the Commercial Director you will oversee projects in the North. This role will have you overseeing multiple projects with staff reporting directly to yourself.
Tasks:
This role will require you working within head office working closely with the senior management of the business unit. Not being specifically project based this role will have you overseeing the project staff, looking at commercial strategy, and front end day to day running of the business.
Responsibilities:
Overseeing the measurement and preparation of valuations with a view to
maximising financial returns under the provisions of the Contract
Conditions and Company procedures
Lend contractual expertise to QS, Commercial and Operational colleagues
Identify and implement best practice across the business
Monitoring and managing the procurement of control of sub contract
works
Preparing and finalising month end accounts in line with management
procedures
Providing leadership, guidance and direction to the business unit
commercial team to ensure that objectives and targets are achieved
leading to the overall delivery of the commercial strategy
Knowledge of various forms of contracts but in particular NEC
To carry out financial and contractual administration on assigned
contracts.
The setting of profitability targets with the team whilst developing
procurement strategy alongside financial management reporting.
Be focused on the delivery of projects across the North
As part of the Project Delivery Team obtain a thorough understanding of
the contractual & commercial aspects of each tender & project including
conditions of contract, scope, pricing, programme, risks & opportunities
Ensure good contract administration & change management
Ensure accurate monthly valuations (including all variations & claims) &
final account projections are submitted & followed up with Clients, to
optimise revenue & cash-flow.
Provide accurate & comprehensive monthly financial reporting &
forecasting on projects in accordance with company procedures &
timescales.
Management and/or mentoring of team members including graduates to
influence and promote best working practice across the businessx
Price / Salary: £65000 - £79900/annum
