We are seeking an enthusiastic scientist to join a team of Material Scientists engaged in characterising API and drug products. The scientist will be primarily lab based utilizing a suite of physical and chemical characterisation techniques, which would include light microscopy, particle size analysis, powder flow, spectroscopy and thermal techniques. The scientist would be required to compile and data process their results for inclusion in the final project report.
Major Duties:
* Performing analytical tests including light microscopy, particle size analysis, spectroscopic and thermal techniques.
* Documenting observations through experiment completion and often working outside of document driven procedures, and therefore an innovative approach to problem solving is required.
* Ability to compile large sets of data and provide these to the project lead in a concise format.
* Plan and review work schedules to meet deadlines, communicate results clearly to supervisor via written presentations.
Person Specification
Experience
* Experience with performing laboratory experiments either in industry or at university.
* Ability to use a light microscope.
* Familiarity with physical property characterisation techniques e.g. laser diffraction particle size, specific surface area
* Demonstrated skills in the use and interpretation of thermal methods incl differential scanning calorimetry and thermal gravimetric analysis
* Application of material assessment methods to predict product performance including

* An understanding of pharmaceutical solid dose manufacturing.
