Job title: Kitchen Assistant

Location: Withington, Manchester

Salary: £8.45 per hour

Hours: 21 hours per week.

Our client has been a charitable housing organisation for nearly 60 years. Throughout this time their residents are always at the heart of what they do and the services they provide. They are currently looking for a Kitchen Assistant at their home in Withington.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

* To ensure a consistently high standard of kitchen cleanliness and food preparation
* To be aware of the residents dietary requirements and hydration needs
* To ensure that all aspects of the regulatory framework are met within the scope of this role as directed, including the Health and Social Care Act 2008
* To ensure, working as part of a team within the home, that all residents' needs are fully met.
* To manage the cleaning procedures and schedules for the kitchen in accordance with Environmental Health standards and those expected by the Cook.
* To undertake basic food and drink preparation as directed by the Cook.
* To take heated food trolleys to relevant dining areas ready for care staff to serve as directed by the Cook.
* To be responsible for the daily use of catering equipment and reporting any defects to the Cook/Home Manager/Maintenance person.
* To ensure the correct use of all equipment and products in line with COSHH requirements.
* To ensure all deliveries received are correctly placed into fridge / freezers or store areas.
* To keep the kitchen and store areas in a clean and hygienic condition.
* Ensure all food related activities comply with food safety regulations and the completion of all relevant records in relation to food safety as directed.

Required Skills and Experience:

* Ability to communicate and interact well with people
* To be able to read and write to a good standard
* Ability to work well as part of a team.
* Demonstrate an empathy and understanding of the needs of older people to a high standard at all times
* Ability to carry out all aspects of the role
* Food Hygiene certificate or willingness to complete
