Senior Research Scientist

A leading medical devices company developing state of the art in vitro diagnostics point of care devices is looking for a Junior and a Senior Research Scientist to join their expanding team in Newcastle, and help with the development and validation of new clinical assays.

The role itself will be working on an infectious disease project primarily with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Candidates will have to have had experience working with BioSafety Level 2 and/or 3 organisms (BSL-2 and BSL-3). This senior role will involve some supervision or man management experience.

An ideal candidate will have a PhD or significant relevant expeerience within molecular biology or infectious disease. Any addtional knowledge or experience in the following areas would also be relevant: microfluidics, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, rtPCR, assay development, assay validation, microbiology, lab-on-chip technology or IVD.
