To provide an advisory service to vulnerable tenants which helps them sustain their tenancy and break the cycle of homelessness. To focus delivery on getting tenants to access additional services including health and social care, education and employment opportunities.
REPORTING TO:
Service Manager
SALARY:
£7.50 per hour employed £8.50 self employed
WORKING HOURS:
37.5 hours per week
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
To complete risk assessments on each tenant identifying their individual needs.
To produce a support plan for each tenant, listing the outcomes they wish to achieve through their tenancy.
To assist tenants in understanding the terms and conditions of their tenancy in order to sustain their tenancy for a longer period of time.
To engage with tenants and help reduce anti-social behaviour
To identify tenants with health and social care needs and make them known to social services so they are able to access the support they require.
To create partnership links with employment and education services so tenants wishing to engage in these services can be easily referred.
To ensure health and safety of all individuals using the service.
To accurately record all progress of each tenant using the appropriate recording system.
To accurately record all progress of each tenant using the ECCO system.
To monitor and report anti social behaviour to ensure the safety of all tenants and staff within Expectations.
To ensure a smooth transition from one situation to another by giving practical, social and emotional support.
Housing Support Worker
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Experience working with homeless people or rough sleepers, including key working, care planning and joint working with statutory agencies
Understanding of the causes of homelessness and the pathways out of homelessness
The ability to work with clients who may display challenging behaviour
A thorough knowledge of appropriate legislation, including welfare benefits and housing law
An ability to represent Kensington Community Care appropriately at all times, work professionally with external agencies and to promote a service to a wide range of audiences
Excellent administrative, recording and reporting skills
Solid IT skills, including competence with word processing, spreadsheets, databases and email, and the ability to learn how to use new IT applications
An understanding of and commitment to confidentiality and professional boundaries
An understanding of equal opportunities and how it can be applied within the company
An understanding of Health and Safety and an ability to manage the associated requirements practically and professionally
Effective time and workload management
Own transport and ability to travel to various sites.
