Youth Outreach Engagement Worker - Birmingham - Fixed Term
Your new company
You will be working for a local voluntary organisation in Birmingham & Solihull as a Youth Outreach Engagement / Liaison Worker on a Fixed Term based from Jan 2018 to Dec 2018. You will be part of a project which is targeting NEET (not in Employment, Education and Training) young people to help them access opportunities that are sustainable. These young people may be in or leaving care, be at risk of offending, experiencing poor mental health or have a physical or learning disability.
Your new role
As an Outreach Liaison worker you will be engaging with organisations to generate youth referrals for the programme, as well as ensuring that referrals turn into successful sustained employment. Within this there are two specialist roles:
Outreach Liaison Worker - Referrals Generation and External Stakeholder Engagement
You will be generating referrals of eligible young adults who have been unemployed for more than 12 months. You will be using innovative ways to target these young people, and promoting the programme to them.
Outreach Liaison Worker - Participant Engagement and Retention
You will be ensuring once a referral has been made, that the young adult successfully engages with their employment coach and finds sustainable employment. You will also ensure participant surveys are completed in order for the programme to meet it's targets, this may involve reengaging young people who have dropped off the programme.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have previous experience working in an outreach capacity with young people with multiple needs. You will have previously generated referrals, as well as promoted engagement activities and events. You should have also delivered group sessions as well as one to one direct working with young people.
