Ecological Lead - HS2 Phase 1

Location - Birmingham

Contract - 2 Fixed Term Contract



My client the joint venture of three of Europe's leading infrastructure companies. Have been awarded the Central package of HS2's enabling works and are looking for an Ecological Lead to join their team.

Job Purpose

Oversee and assure the ecological input into all of the JV's work packages and of all subcontractor deliverables.

Accountabilities

* To fulfil the role of Ecological Specialist and provide assurance and ensure compliance with WI2300 and relevant Technical Standards.
* Provide ecological support and input as required
* Coordinate ecological mitigation and completion of licence applications.
* To provide ecological support to the Fusion team and have responsibilities under the following work packages:
* Area Wide Surveys

Coordinate:

* Ecological surveys
* Environmental surveys
* Other surveys as required
* Area Wide Environmental

Oversee:

* Creation of mitigation sites
* Oversee planting
* Invasive species surveys
* Site clearance
* Ground remediation

Experience

* Senior/principal ecologist with experience of working on design and construction phases of large-scale linear infrastructure projects
* Chartered ecologist/environmentalist
* Management of subcontractors and teams of ecologists
* Experience in the planning process and dealing with local authorities
* EIA and EcIA experience
* Experience of implementing ecological mitigation
* Project management of complicated ecological survey and mitigation schemes

Desirable:

* Experience in No Net Loss of Biodiversity calculation/reporting
* Protected species licences
