Job Summary:
Perform maintenance, and upgrade of networks using Cisco networking products, including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and network management systems. Monitor network connectivity and ensure high quality data transmission. Provide technical support to various departments on more difficult issues and users with regards to LAN/MAN/WAN (local/metropolitan/wide area networks). Serve as liaisons with vendors and other third-party providers.
Specific Duties:
* Configure, setup and troubleshoot WAN related protocols OSPF, EIGRP and BGP and related network technologies, i.e. MPLS, Frame relay, etc.
* Perform network planning, design and documentation for redundant and high available network solutions
* Maintain, configure and troubleshoot complex switching environments and technologies related with local area networks
* Install, configure, and maintain network hardware including load balancers and WAN accelerators network equipment
* Configure and troubleshoot LAN related protocols VTP, HSRP, L2TP, etc
* Implementation and participation of Disaster Recovery exercises.
* Understanding and familiarity of Windows Networking Technologies, i.e., DNS, DHCP, WINS, etc
* Duties may require being on-call periodically and working outside business hours.
* Responding to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel and outside vendors and etc. to provide technical assistance and support
* Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco Firewalls, VPN Concentrators and Security appliances for access to vital business applications
Education:
B.A. or B.S. in a technical field or relevant combination of education and expertise
ITIL certification is highly desirable
Current CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) and/or CCDA certification
Skills:
* Must be able to present clearly technical solutions to a non-technical audience
* Cisco Unified Communication, Manager configuration and infrastructure a plus
* Knowledge and understanding of packet capturing and analysis applications, i.e. Netscout, WireShark, TCPdump, etc
Experience:
* 4 to 5 years of Hands-on experience working in medium to large network environments
