A fantastic opportunity has opened up with one of my clients based in Essex, where they are actively seeking to recruit a Food Safety Officer, to assist their busy team for an initial 3 months.

About the Role:

The role will see you take on a case load of both new food safety and standards applications and proportion of backlogged cases still outstanding at the Council. This will require you to undertake site visits and inspections of food premises, serve notices where necessary and enforce said notices.

The contract on offer is very rare as it is for an initial 3 months with the potential to continue on beyond that depending on performance. There is some scope for flexible working but more of an office presence is preferred. The rates have been left open to negotiation but we could expect around £30-£35 per inspection.

About You:

An up to date knowledge of Food Standards and Food Safety Legislation is essential. You will also be required to have a qualification at degree level or equivalent professional qualification in Environmental Health, or in Food Safety and Food Standards. Either EHORB registration or a Higher Certificate in Food Control/Safety is also an essential.
