The Hinkley Point C Project is one of the largest infrastructure projects in Europe. During the business construction phase over 5,600 people will work on the site. The project marks the rebirth of the UK's nuclear industry and will present invaluable opportunities for Somerset, the South West and wider UK.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on one of the largest and most significant construction and infrastructure projects in Europe.
Roads & Networks is responsible for the delivery of the Earthworks design packages that are managed through the OH2001 Earthworks Contract by the Responsible Designer (RD).
Details of the role are as follows:
*Report directly to the Enabling Works Programme Engineering Lead
*Support the HPC Roads & Networks Engineering Lead during the design and construction phases
*Provide technical direction and accountability for the HPC Roads & Networks Early Networks
*Implement the design strategy for HPC Roads & Networks Early Networks
*Liaise and co-ordinate with the wider HPC Project team (including the DIN entities in France)
*Deliver technical references, input data, level 1 & 2 design schedules and reporting
*Take responsibility for the management, surveillance, coordination and the review of the Early Networks design, in order to deliver to programme the design package for site construction
*Challenge designers in terms of proposed solutions (i.e. reduction of design/construction cost, technical requirements, sustainability, suitability of detailed designs, quality of detailed designs)
*Coordinate / organise CDM Review meetings and liaison with the NNB CDM-A with respect to design development
*Manage the interfaces (technical & functional) within the Roads & Networks project applicable to Early Networks and other associated design packages
*Comply with NNB QA policies and procedures
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
*Experience in the design and management of major infrastructure projects
*Experienced in British and European Standards for civil works
*Enhanced organisational skills
*Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams
*Typically degree qualified or equivalent in a related discipline
*Membership of a Professional Institute (MICE or MIStructE)
*Experience in pressurised systems
*Solid experience in civil engineering design, procurement (NEC & FIDIC forms of Contract) and construction processes
*General professional qualities as accuracy, tenacity, result-oriented and teamwork-oriented attitude, diplomacy
*Excellent communication/interpersonal skills notably with various levels of the organisation and externally
*Discretion - Confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information
