An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Care Assistant to join a care home based in Lytham, Lancashire. In return, we offer competitive pay rates between £7.50-8.50 per hour depending on qualifications and experience plus pension scheme, accrued holiday varying on the number of days worked, uniform is provided and meals.

The Care Assistant will be responsible for meeting the personal care needs of the residents, in a way that respects the dignity and privacy of the individual and promotes independence and to help in the general day to day activities of the home.

Day to day duties of the Care Assistant are:

* Assist residents who need help with dressing, undressing, bathing, toileting and medication administration
* Help residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence with the use of aids and personal equipment
* Help care for residents who are dying
* Care for residents who are temporarily sick and needing for example dressings and bed nursing
* To help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of residents through talking to them, taking them out, sharing in their activities such as reading, writing hobbies & recreations
* To make and change beds, tidy rooms, do light cleaning and empty commodes
* To inspect, launder and mend residents clothes
* To set tables and trays, prepare and serve light meals, feed residents who need help
* Wash up, clean the dining room and complete house duties as indicated in daily rota
* Answer emergency bells, the door, and telephone and greet visitors
* To read and write reports, take part in residents meetings and in training activities as directed
* To comply with homes policies and guidelines at all times
* To encourage residents to remain as independent as possible

The successful Care Assistant will:

* Have an NVQ level 2 / Diploma Level 2 or above in Health & Social Care
* Be self-motivated, organised and flexible
* Have a caring and empathetic nature
* Be sensitive to the needs of others and to the sick or infirm
* Be an active team player and have the ability to work on own initiative
* Be a good communicator
* Respect the confidentiality of all matters

The hours of work available are between 32-40 per week, over 4 or 5 days on a rota basis. The shifts are 08:00-14:00, 14:00-21:00, 13:00-21:00 and 08:00-21:00.

Applicants must be willing to undergo a DBS check (funded by the company providing it is returned satisfactory) and must be able to obtain two written references of which at least one must be from a previous employer.
