An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Contracts Manager to join Westbourne Civil Engineering Ltd based in Manchester. In return, we offer a competitive salary and 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.

Westbourne Civil Engineering Ltd are specialists in domestic groundwork's and road & sewers. We operate in the North West region with new office facilities in Worsley, Manchester. The business is 9 years old and has continued to grow from strength to strength through a difficult period in the construction industry.

The Contract Manager will be responsible for managing sites and work force across sites in the North West region.

Key responsibilities will include:

* Regular site visits on a weekly basis ensuring all Site Managers and projects are running to programme
* Assisting the Site Foremen with any problems or concerns on site
* Attending senior management meetings on progression of sites and participate in pre-start meetings and produce work programmes
* Ensuring compliance with all aspects of both Health & Safety Legislation and internal H&S Management System
* Discussing build-ability and design issues
* Programming and planning all works and devising a build programme
* Recruitment of staff, organising trades and labour
* Build, develop and motivate the site construction team
* Manage staff performance in line with company policies including trainees and apprentices
* Ensure site set up is safe, timely and effective
* Liaise with consultant engineers to ensure all information is available to progress works
* Ensure consultant engineers provide all inspections and certification to comply with planning/building regulation requirements
* Manage and liaise with all specialised sub-contractors to ensure works are carried out on time and to acceptable standards
* Ensure completion dates are met and that developments are adequately resourced
* Ensure accurate processing of information between Regional Office and Site
* Monitor response time to customer Final Inspection lists and complaints
* Monitor labour performance and costs and costs of Suppliers and Sub-contractors
* Control hired plant and the amount of material on site

The successful applicant will have:

* Experience of mentoring and supporting others and the ability to manage a team
* Up to date relevant knowledge of Building and Health and Safety legislation
* Experience of Partnership arrangements and local government
* Good understanding of NHBC requirements
* Excellent communication skills
* Financial and commercial awareness
* Communicate effectively with all departments, external bodies and subcontractors
* Ability to effectively manage time in order to meet deadlines
* Ability to negotiate and influence others

The hours of work are 07:30-17:00 Monday Friday.
